We had originally planned to visit the highlights independently, but at the last minute changed our minds – thank goodness! The guide was excellent, knew lots about everything we asked, wasn’t in a rush, and his English was superb, he gave us much more ‘real’ information which is often missing or overlooked from guided tours (sometimes they are repeating a learnt script, which is onerous). There were lots of things that the tour included (or maybe the guide added) that we were delighted with. If you do have the money, then I can’t recommend using this tour enough – it will save you a lot of stress, wasted time, and you will certainly discover many things that would have been missed had you done it yourself. Tips – 1. the spices in Crawford market are expensive and no better than what you can get at home, 2. The tour drives along marine drive, where there isn’t a huge amount to see, but means you can tick it off your list, 3. There is a lot of smog which obscures the view from Malabar Hill sadly.

We went to the Gateway of India, the laundry center, central market, and several other sites with Alam. He showed us how the locals live in Mumbai, and it was incredibly interesting. I'd definitely recommend Amaze tours to someone else looking to see Mumbai from the eyes of a local!
